it's true, uruguay's side do look like the all-star disney villains dream team, and sometimes they might even act like them...
that said, after watching the USA lose to ghana in 2006 on a worthless PK awarded after a hideously cynical plain-sight dive, and after watching the USA lose to ghana this year in a tight game whose latter stages were dominated by a ghanaian side that was flopping across death's door one second, then HEALED! BY THE HOLY GHOST POWER the second their stretchers/escorts hit the touchline (also the style of play with which they cemented their stolen 2006 victory throughout the entire 2nd half, if i remember correctly), all i can say is, what goes around comes around
this is a side that failed to score a single non-penalty kick goal during the entire group phase. if it weren't for their preternatural ability to draw a penalty call once every 1.5 games, they'd never have made it this deep into the tournament anyway. you live by the penalty kick, you die by the penalty kick. peace out ghana, holla @ u l8r, maybe in 4 years you'll have learned how to stay on your feet for more than five minutes at a stretch, or, at the very least, you'll have learned how to do it with a touch of style, like italy
i actually have to agree with the american here...ghana didn't deserve to make it to the semi-finals...it would have been historic, yes, and a lot of the ppl around me would have been happy, yes...but in the end, they got what they deserved...i'm just disappointed no other african team made it out...ivory coast and south africa is understandable as The Elephants were in the group of death and South Africa couldn't have done better than they did...cameroon was thoroughly disappointing...algeria played for the draw in every single game, except against england, for which i commend them...and nigeria were toothless
Intriguing coverage and commentary of the 2010 FIFA World Cup from a team of passionate observers, with local photography, distant predictions, and plenty of fantasy team advice.
